Originally I kind of stopped posting because of some the older vets did have this Elitest attitude towards everyone, but it could just be from a noobs standpoint.
I didn't know much about MMA, and (I'm not picking on you dude) just as an example, this was during a time...I cant remember what fight was happening that had everyone riled up but Palma had posted in a number of threads and basically slammed any and all opinions regarding it. In all honesty coming from a type of noob towards a sport the last thing I had wanted is to say why I think so and so will win a fight and have 3 pages of stats and circular arguements thrown at me knowing I couldn't really say anything because since I have less than X rep I'm wrong.
Personally it's a great way to get rid of uneducated, ignorant casual fans, but I think it could attribute to why vets are leaving now too. I dont knwo what it was like back then, but maybe its just grown stale knowing that once someone says something so trivial like..."Fighter X will win..I just have a feeling.--- "No he won't he lost to Fight Y AND Fighter Z who fighter R beat blah blah.." It leads to unnessicary spam.
Another GREAT example of this is any arguement that has GSP in it, or Fedor/Randy. Its unenjoyable reading a post regarding UFC 83, or The UFC/Couture/Fedor saga because you know you've read it 3124514 times before. And with what seems like every second thread regarding something to do with that, it's like you're trying to weed out the good threads but you can't seem to find them in all the horseshit threads surounding them.
But honestly now that I can say I'm somewhat educated when it comes to MMA, this place is fucking A-1, hell even after having nightmares about getting flamed by him, I enjoy reading Palmas and some of the other guys I generally disagreed with/ was scared of posts.
I'll definietly be sticking around, but with so much traffic and so much redundancy I can see why older posters would be inclined to leave.

But thanks for the input and what you said is true. The rep system has caused some problems.
But IMO it has and will continue to be a huge asset to us.
Again, thanks for the Input, we want to hear from all types of posters. | Have to respectfully disagree with you and agree with tempest929.
The rep system sucks, it does however force new people to this site to post stuff at the pics and vids section.
Other than that I don't see how the rep system has stopped trolling.
A few people have been banned but you don't need a rep system to regulate bad posting or trollers just active mods banning people within minutes.
Other than that this forum is still the best out there.
We also need more original opinion columns from MMA news members.
I think are are to many Copy&Paste columns from other sites.

I think are are to many Copy&Paste columns from other sites. | The rep system hasn't eliminated all trolls but it has eliminated %75 of the trolls and spammers while the forum has continued to grow. You would be surprised at how many threads we used to delete that don't show up anymore.
I do agree though that we need more editorial style columns, both on the forum and on the main website.

I think are are to many Copy&Paste columns from other sites. | Well on that there you need to speak with Matt Boone. We do have our interviews with fighters that Howie conducts though that are great for mmanews.com. As far as other news goes..... other MMA sites are better informed and quicker to post breaking news which is why a lot of us copy/paste them in the forums.

I just don't get how this post turned into some sort of fucking teary-eyed get-together of everyone who had ever made a dumbass comment and got put on notice. Is this everyone's first forum? If you get flamed and you feel like you have a point, flame back. It's not like the vets are kicking in your door and whipping your ass. Opinions here are strong. It's best that way. Now quit whining, defend your stance with facts, and move on. Jesus.
