Howie did ask that we keep some opinions to ourselves and for that reason I digress. |
I'm not sure if any of this was directed towards my post, but I'll bite.
Just in case it was let me clarify, hell even if it wasn't let me because after reading it again, it's all over the place.
I was giving two examples as to why anyone would leave.
Newer people leave because if they dont know much about MMA, or if they have a strong favour towards one specific fighter (Lets say GSP because everyone loves him or hates him) you get either Vets of the forum or just general assholes jumping down their throat because they have an opinion on something they aren't exactly educated in. When I joined it seemed that the majority of people were helpful, but some people act tough on the internet. Every one of us is guilty for ragging on someone because of what they say, but some people take things WAY too seriously. Now it seems the board is riddled with posters who feel they need to take on this attitude as well. This isn;t nessicarily a bad thing, as it will get rid of noobs who are just here to cause shit and lick scrot.
Older posters probably leave because of these newer people coming on and spamming the board with useless, redundant articles and threads. (Perfect example: I posted on a bands message board before it was shut down, right before it did they just released a sub-par CD, but all the band whores loved it. Long story short, you have people who've been with the band when they were "Hardcore and undergroud", and the 16 year old scenester sluts who would post in every second thread, why X band memeber was the hottest, and why the new music is better because its on the radio) Same thing now really.
Take a look at the last few months and tell me how many threads you see regarding Fedor/Randy. Noone can say they arent sick and tired of looking at the front page and seeing more or less the same article 5 times.
The boards getting bigger, and people come here to read up, discuss, even vent about personal shit. Maybe they feel hey can;t do that because like I said in my first post, they need to weed through 15 articles to find that one good one. I love this board, with some minor exceptions, but maybe older posters don't like the way it's going because it doesn't feel like the close community it once was. Maybe they feel they've lost their identity..I dunno.
