Thanks for posting these.
The Serra link took me to the page, but the words weren't up.
But I find that I'm less motivated to read his words than Hughes' or Danzing's blogs.
Anyone else think that Serra's actually coming off the way he claims Matt Hughes really is?
There have certainly been more than a few Hughes breakdown moments which certainly haven't cast the former Welterweight champ in a favorable light, but the more I hear Serra talk the more difficult it is to figure who the real ego-maniac is here. I mean, if someone's entire method of attacking a person is to call the other an ego-maniac while consistently taking pleasure in their own success, then maybe don't they also exhibit the same sense of arrogance?
Overall, I still respect the guy... I just think a great deal of the UFC business is an annoying degree of self-confidence.
Just wonderin if anyone else had that run through their heads...

I agree about Serra. His constant jabs at Hughes are pointless and petty. I keep asking myself, why does this guy feel he has to continually convince me that Hughes is such a bad guy?

I admit I have never cared for Hughes' personality which makes me biased on this issue, but...
What in the hell is with all the Serra bashing? He gives it up for his team in training all the while treating them as respectable upcoming fighters instead of children that need their asses paddled (though maybe he should have let himself have one on Joey), he continues to pick smart fights, and he's easily one of the better corner men in the sport.
Yes, he's having the time of his life watching Hughes get so pissed. Do you really blame him?!? We're talking about Matt "rub it in and spread it with a butter knife" Hughes for fucks sake. Do you think Hughes wouldn't be letting every last smart ass comment fly away if he was in Serra's position at this point? You HAVE seen him in previous interviews/competitions right?
Hughes has been throwing tantrums the whole fucking season. It's like the Mike Whitehead meltdown (from Season II) to the 6th power. And of course afterwards - He beats the shit out of his guys in training for them being inexperienced and admitidly for his own frustrations and shortcomings, then expects them to learn something from it. You LEARN things from technique, patience, experience, and mutual understanding - not from being twisted into a god damn pretzel to prove you're the grand fucking ultra QUEEN of the desert.
This whole thing could indeed get turned around in the quarter finals, and I honestly look at Danzig to take it - but let's be realistic about what's been seen this far. Serra would have done well do limit his Hughes bashing after the first coulpe post-championship interviews, but to me he's nowhere near the bigger chump. Outside of the Hughes business, I can't remember him ever having an unkind/non-humble word to say about anyone. Can you say the same about Hughes?
All this being said, I don't expect Serra to keep his belt after December 29 - so I"m sure everyone can have their he-haws then.

In my opinion it's Serra who is coming off as more of a jackass than anyone in this situation. All he ever has to say is what a dick and an egomanian Hughes is, while Hughes has pretty much kept to himself the entire time. Serra showed his true humility when the first think he did after winning the title was talk about what a dick head Hughes is live on PPV. Serra is constantly bashing everything about Hughes and Hughes's team and gloating in his fighters success and his prowess as a coach. Tell me who the real egomanian is here...? The bottom line is that no matter who the coaches are and what happens, Mac is probably the all-out favorite to take the whole competition by a wide margin and guys like Blake and Richie Hightower will never stand a chance. In just a few weeks you cannot take 8 fighters you've never seen before and turn them all into MMA warriors. It's mostly all up to the individual in these situations. And Serra will not have anybody in the Cage with him on December 29th when Hughes smashes him and takes that title and that smirk at the same time. Serra is a good coach and a good fighter and as I've said many times, I have great respect for everyone in this sport who goes out and lays it on the line. But anyone who bashes another fighter so much that it becomes their entire persona, obviously does not share that respect. On the 29th Serra is going to get owned and then he can eat all the peperoni pizza he wants and I hope that "cockhead" hughes gloats and rubs it right in Serra's face.

I'm with you on this much.
