Default The Inevitable?

i was thinking about the up-coming episode for tuf and something crossed my mind.

the ufc has signed a lot of new fighters recenetly. and dana white said hes planning on building up the ufc even more in a recent interview.

also i think theres been a steady decline of skilled fighters in each new season of the ultimate fighter. they are bringing in guys with less and less experience, bringing in someone who's 0-0 isnt even a surprise anymore.

so at what point does the ufc become so good that even the top fighters in the ultimate fighter are too in-experienced too make it with the level of competition in the ufc. when does the jump in the level of competition become to great.

will dana avoid this by always making sure theirs at least a few good guys in every season? maybe eventually he will not have the choice and have to take a gamble.

edit:

damn i thought i was in the ultimate fighter thread. can an admin please move it.

To a degree this is already happening. For 6 months to a year after each season the competitors slowly get weeded out except for the more talented ones.

I personally believe that they (dana & UFC) would prefer to have a more predictable outcome for themselves. Setting it up for 2 guys to face off in the final, before the first episode evens is taped ( not rigged or anything) but recruiting that way based on talent. I mean Danzig has 21 pro fights on his record who wouldnt say hes the favorite?

Call me a conspiracy theorist but it really only makes sence. That way they find 2-4 Marketable & good fighters and have them beat up on the other guys (crazy people like Barrera who are great for drawing viewers but arent UFC material) for 2 months so then the average fan says WOW! Joe Schmo is so good!

I really dont mind it cuz it makes for ok TV. They recruit a few guys they can actually see fighting in the UFC and the rest are just (for lack of a better term) fluffers.

Myself and my Muay Thai instructor were talking about this as well. I think most fighters are not bothering because TUF almost makes everyone look like an asshole. Not to mention that there are other ways to get into the UFC and other organizations..

I would not be surprised if we saw some more talented ones head into TUF 7, strictly because Forrest Griffin/Keith Jardine just beat (at the time) top 3 LHWs (TUF fighters finally getting a little more respect) and Rashad/Bisping just head lined a PPV.

I think they need to reformat the show.

I agree that the show makes everyone look like an asshole, and makes assholes look even worse.

I don't watch 90% of the lame shit that goes on in the house. I think they need to do less drama and more fights. I still don't understand why they don't get television or books, and I don't see the point in letting fighters who lose stay in the house, beyond being an alternate.

If it was to interest me in the future, they'd need to do two fights per episode, minimum. I can understand showing a bit of bio behind the fighters, but I could give a shit about petty squabbles.

Until then, I thank Tivo for the ability to fast forward over 90% of the useless crap, to get to the 6 minutes of quality television/hour the show actually generates.

I never really even thought about it until a few days ago. I was watching some of season 3, and Ross Pointons record was 4-6. I mean Bisping was a great find in the UK, but was Ross really the second best guy at 4-6? Then you got Danny Abbadi who was 0-0 on the show. Now he's 1-4. Maybe the UFC needs to hire scouts or something before they cast the show. Blake Bowman is 0-0, and you could tell by the way his fight went. The list goes on and on and its pathetic. Its not even like these guys are proving me wrong, Ross went out, lost quickly, got brought back and lost again, and since the show is 1-3. Danny is 1-4 since the show I mean c'mon there HAS to be better talent than these guys.

No shit! This can't B the best of the best of guys that Rn't already in the UFC that the world has 2 offer. There has 2 B tons of guys out there that would steamroll Blake or Ritchie just 2 name a couple of questionable contestants.
Although I did gain some respect 4 Ritchie for his fight w/ George, but still,
he by no means is N E where near one of the best young welterweights in
mixed martial arts today.Sad but true.
