I personally think that more drama could potentially be had if the producers took away the alcohol. The fighters wouldn't have any true form of escapism in the house with that taken away and drive some of the dudes nuts, talk about their life more often or whatever it may be to try to pass the time.

Dolce makes good points. I don't enjoy watching the drunken bullshit. I want to see more of the training. I want to see the technical aspects. After a show has been aired, I want to have a good idea of how a typical training session for a professional fighter goes from start to finish. This is what TUF has been lacking for the last several seasons.

Also, what the first season of the Contender did that I thought was great was show the fighter's support system by moving their wives, children, parents and trainers out so the guys could visit them before the fight.
We don't really get much background info on the guys except for the obligatory "I had a tough life growing up" and "I do this for my son, to give him a better life".

I've been saying this for years.
Except for the actual fights, I think the show sucks ass. I think it's hilarious when people talk about EXC giving MMA a black eye because they thought a fight was stopped early [when they don't even understand the rules] or because [gasp] Nick Diaz gave someone the finger and they still mark out about the melodramatic bullshit that is TUF.
Even if it didn't fuck up the timing sequence of title fights and give undeserving challengers a title shot, the show would be 1 part average, 4 parts garbage and an occasional good fight for the final 10 minutes. Thank god for TIVO, so I can fast forward through that shit.
Even the clowns at TapouT do a better job showing training and the support network fighters need to succeed...and they are, quite literally, clowns.

To the ppl who think that it's the fighters responsibility not to drink as a fighter:
Who the fuck denies free booze.

rh | It's interesting that you say this because it seems like there is an inverse relationship to the amount of drinking in a particular TUF season to the talent pool of the cast.
Coincidence? |

Coincidence? | I'd say that relationship has been found statistically valid in each season since the first.
