Agreed. IMO, the guy has been a bit of a dick, and his bitchy response in the cage in regards to his loss was absurd. However, he seems to be beginning to realize that being a dick won't really further his ambition or his ability to grow as a fighter. I commend that as well as the props he gave to Amir. He's got strength and potential. If he continues to develop his mental game and technique he might be a force. If he doesn't, I'll be the first to call him out.

Also depends on your perceptions of the guy. One the one end, it could be viewed as making excuses for a loss, but I think at the core of it, this is a guy who saw his dream go down the crapper and now has to deal with it. Along with the poetic justice of it all (the fact that he still somewhat refers to himself as the "favorite" going into the fight), there is the self recognition that CB knows his next fight is really going to make or break the way people look at him.

Personally, I thought the guy was full of himself... but I also have a hard time drawing a distinction between the confidence and cocky balance that is the UFC. Nonetheless, in his case, I thought he bought his own hype (and to some extent, still does). But maybe he'll mellow out and gain a better perspective.

Or maybe he'll just stay a dick.

I wish I could believe that this was really CB penning this instead of some agent or friend doing damage control. He might as well have gone the route of every disgraced politician and said "I am sorry I let down my friends and family with my actions. I will be taking some time to spend time with my family and reflect on my choices."

I don't believe it was really him.


P.S. The UFC did him a real disservice with their "Road to the TUF finals" video package they put together.

Amir's video package: Training hard and living at home with mom and dad to save money. Working his ass off and realizing he has an amazing opportunity.

CB's package: Sitting by the pool with bikini girls and douche "Bro-friends". There was a definite latent fratboy-douche vibe to the video.

Hmmm....

I would be lying if I said it had totally sunk in yet. I lost twice to the same guy, the same way. I guess it is pretty clear I need to work on some things. Amir won that fight fair and square.
