the fight was a total surprize for me. first, kimbo seemed to make very little effort once he was taken to the ground. we have been watching him practicing a lot on ground escapes but we didnt see any of it. his take down defence was better but once he hit the mat he was done. conspiracy or not i think its odd that this fight was a perfect example of what dana had always said about kimbo.
as far as roy, i didnt like him from the begining. it was obvious he was a plant to fight kimbo to back up dana's words but he was coming in acting like the champ instead of respecting the coaches on the road he chose. but as he went about embarassing kimbo and his ground game,he didnt feel the need to bust kimbo up.i know some have voiced their desire to see kimbo get busted up but thats not what the sport is about. it is to defeat your opponent. roy did just that. i dont know if he didnt throw a lot of power shots to protect himself from hand injury(very probably the reason) or there was just no need to beat a dead horse but either way i think this was the mark of a professional so he gained a bit of respect from me.

Kimbo's first professional fight was:

June 23, 2007 vs Ray Mercer

That means he has been training MMA for 2 years of which most of that was with BAS Rutten....and he still can't do a damn thing on the ground? He doesn't even try to escape, besides putting his foot on the cage. No hip escape, not even a friggin wiggle hehe, he just laid there and got his head beat in.

I don't see how anyone can be impressed by him, he is a total fish on the ground.

Roy did a great job, he mounted Kimbo all over the place and crucified him, no reason to bang with him...this is not some basement in Miami.

I was pissed right off yelling at my tv for the ref to stop the fight when Kimbo was in that first crucifix. When the ref just kept looking at him I was immediately thinking of the James Thompson fight. I was appalled at the "reffing" in that fight. Then the second round when he took those two ok punches I was kind of concerned but all turned out well and he ended it the same way it should have been ended in the first round!
Dana White at the end really made me mad though basically saying that the fight shouldn't have been stopped because Nelson was hitting him like White's daughter would hit him for fun. Bullshit-shouldn't matter how hard you hit, Kimbo wasn't getting out of that crucifix and therefore was unable to defend himself and the fight should be stopped regardless. Thank you Roy for showing us all how bad Kimbo is on the ground.

On a side note about Kimbo there was an interview with him on the fight network that I saw yesterday and he was talking about how he really just wants to be a boxer and not a mixed martial artist.

HOSS-Bork, you should spend more time brushing up on your MMA history, and less time complementing guys on how young their penises taste.

He better switch soon, because his boxing looked bad too. He's a brawler, any decent boxer would pick him apart.

You know what I see in his future? Professional Wrestling...

I saw it more like an alligator after Steve Irwin has tired him out and put a bag on his head.
