TUF 10 - Kimbo(spoiler i guess)

I watched the fight just minutes ago. Roy Nelson dominated Kimbo on the ground which i expected. Also Kimbo was much better at the stand up which surprised me. The thing that bothers me is Dana Whites statement after the fight(He said that Roy was hitting like a little girl). He was clearly biased in a very childish manner. Thoughts on Dana's statements. Do you agree with him or do you think he is a childish prick that is destroying the ART in MIXED MARTIAL ARTS.
Also what do you think about UFC promoting Kimbo when he clearly has no ground game whatsoever? Is it a bad move for UFC?

This is a tough call, and I look at Cheick Kongo for my answers. Cheick has had many more MMA fights and still fights horrible on the ground. Kimbo has had 4 or 5 and you can see his brain just does not register what to do on the ground. He just needs more experience to be able to get up and not have brain shut-down on his back.
If they still support Kongo then let Kimbo fight a couple more times and work with a training team that will push him on the ground.

Nelson got the fight stopped and that is all that matters. He won so who cares what someones opinion of punching power was. They were just taps but it did the job. Maybe he did not want to cut Kimbo just in case Kimbo has to step in for an injured fighter. Who knows what he was thinking.

Personally I agreed with Dana in the sense that at the end of round 1 the punches Roy was throwing were entirely pathetic.

They were love taps, the kind of thing I would expect if someone was on top of me in training.

Roy had Kimbo at his will and a chance to do damage or even finish the fight. Im not sure what he was trying to accomplish with those.

I think it wasn't much of a surprise that Kimbo did poorly on the ground. He's in his mid-30's and trying to learn a young man (or even kid's) game with BJJ and wrestling. Not to say that it's impossible (look at Marcus Davis) but definitely an uphill battle for him.

I also don't think it helped one bit that he was being coached/trained/bullshitted by Rampage. Kimbo really needs to spend some time with a top training team like Greg Jackson, Couture, ATT, etc. if he wants to get his ground game defense where it needs to be. I don't know who to believe about the falling out between him and Bas (and really don't care). Maybe their personalities just didn't mesh well.

I agree that Dana looked biased after Nelson won but I also think Nelson has a major ego that needs to be addressed by the UFC Heavyweights. I really didn't like how Nelson was making it unnecessarily difficult for Rashad's training team (he really knows how to put the "me" in TEAM). I think we could have seen a much different outcome in this fight if the coaches for Nelson/Kimbo were switched but...

I almost agree with Dana on this one too. Roy was just looking for the ref to step in and stop it. He wasn't doing any damage and the punches weren't that bad. With that being said, he didn't have a big target to hit. Kimbo's head was covered pretty well by Roy's body.

With Rashad coming out and saying that he wants Kimbo to come train with him and Greg Jackson, I would give him a little while before giving up on him. If anyone can get his ground game in check, it will be Greg Jackson.

Roy Mounted him, crucified him and was giving him short fists in the head in Round 1, he obviously was trying to maintain control and didn't want to draw his arm back too far and get off balanced.

I think Dana is upset that his meal ticket got his face stamped in the opening round.

Roy did exactly what any MMA fighter with a brain would have done...take little damage on the feet, get Kimbo to the ground where he laid like a fish.

The thing that pissed me off was, why take away Roys accomplishment ? They stated in interviews that they were impressed by Kimbo, but talked crap when Roy got the W?

+1

You don't see Dana crying during Machida's fights about how he fights. He's just salty that his moneymaker on TUF got canned.

Why? Because Dana is an asshole lol.

If you think that was him getting his face stamped in youre an idiot. Roy was love tapping him while trying to control the crucifix in effort to get a stoppage.
