| Marcus Jones vs. Matt Mitrione set for The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale Marcus Jones vs. Matt Mitrione set for The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
A heavyweight bout between "The Ultimate Fighter 10" cast members and NFL veterans Marcus Jones (4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Matt Mitrione (0-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) takes place on the undercard of Saturday's live show finale.
Following their elimination from the tournament, which aired as part of today's "TUF 10" two-hour season finale, the bout officially was announced.
The two fighters had a heated exchange during the episode, which likely prompted the booking for Saturday's event.
The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale takes place Dec. 5 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The night's main card, including the (non-"TUF") headliner of Matt Hamill vs. Jon Jones, airs on Spike TV.
While never on friendly terms during the duration of the show, Jones inexplicably confronted Mitrione in the final episode and blamed him for possibly ending Junk's career. Junk, a friend of Jones', had suffered an eye injury in a loss to Mitrione in the opening-round of the competition.
Jones was part of Team Rampage on the show while Mitrione fought under the Team Rashad banner.
Jones, a first round draft pick in the 1996 NFL draft pick and the most accomplished of the "TUF 10" NFL vets, began his MMA career in late 2007 and has posted a 4-1 record with four first-round stoppages. The green but well-rounded fighter advanced to the "TUF 10" semis after a submission victory over Mike Wessel and a TKO win over Darrill Schoonover.
Jones, a seven-year member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was knocked out of the competition in the semis by Brendan Schaub in one of the season's most entertaining bouts. Following the loss, Jones said he planned to walk away from the sport but evidently reconsidered after the sting of the loss wore off.
Mitrione, meanwhile, makes his professional debut on Saturday. The former NFL lineman and defensive tackle spent four years in the NFL (and played in two with the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings). He advanced to the "TUF 10" semis with an upset decision victory over one-time UFC fighter Scott Junk but was bounced from the quarterfinals after suffering a submission loss to James McSweeney.

No Mitrione IS a can and after Marcus slams him down and chokes him out, he'll be gone from the UFC for good.

Marcus seems better on the ground than he is at standup. The fight could go either way but I have a feeling if he stands hes gonna get knocked on his ass and gNp or lose by decision. If it goes to the ground its a wrap.

This fight can go either way. I think Matt can KO Big Baby easily. But then again, I think Marcus can GnP his way to victory with ease. All depends where this fight ends up. I know Dana wants Marcus to win. He would be like Bader from last season. The only down side to Marcus is he is kinda old. I dont know what football injuries he could have, same with Matt. Matt needs to bulk up, or cut down to 205.
One thing I hated about this season, most of the HWs can and will drop to 205.

TUF 10 Finale is on December 5th, right? I guess we'll be celebrating New Years a tad earlier as this fight got fireworks written all over it. That's if and only if The Darkness doesn't eat the guy shortly after the bell rings..

Please Marcus- Fight smart and take him to the ground. If he does the end will come quick. If they stay on their feet meathead will KO him. Marcus seems like the nicest most respectful mma fighter I have ever seen. I hope that the good guy gets rewarded for once. And can we get a striking coach down in Rob Kahn's gym? All of his guys have great bjj but can't strike for shit.

I think Matt has a good chance of winning this one. Matt seems to be decent enough at getting up off his back. So i think marcus will take him down right at the beginning and matt will fight out of it to get the fight standing and then when its standing marcus will get knocked out and hopefully knocked out of MMA for ever. Also does anyone know if spike will be airing the Pre-lims? Because im looking at the Pre-lim card and it looks alot better than the main card. Marcus Jones V Mat Mitrione, Justin Wren V Jon Madsen, Darill Schnoonover V James McSweeney. I really wanna see those 3 fights so if spike isnt airing the pre-lims could someone plz lemme know how i can watch them.
