[pantomime horse]

What I don't get is Kos acts like a douche and then later talks about how becoming a fighter teaches you discipline and respect.

People can claim it's an act, but degrading an honorable profession, such as a medic, either points to someone being a douche or an idiot. I'll give Josh the benefit of the doubt and just say he's a douche.

You took the words out of my mouth. He's just a typical jock douche. Whenever he's in front of a camera one on one he pretends like he fights for honor and that he's learned to respect his fellow fighters and people around him. But whenever he's in a crowd he has to be top dog and make fun of whoever, whether it be constantly making fun of GSP or other GSP team members or a medic. I mean what gives him the right to put his hands on the medic, really?

Whether he's been told to play up the bad guy role or not, he just comes off as a dick to me

If anyone has read the blogs from this seasons' TUF fighters, Kyle Watson (who is on team GSP) Had some interesting insight on the situation.

The following is an excerpt from his blog:

"Male Nurse?

Since the beginning of this season, everyone has been trying to figure out who the guy is that Josh Koscheck is seen choking in the season preview. Finally, Brad Tate was revealed to the world in this episode. He and Koscheck had actually been going at it verbally for quite some time, but Spike TV waited until this week to show it.

We figured out that Tate was a medic (or "male nurse," according to Koscheck), but nobody really knew exactly what his role was supposed to be. We would ask, and he would say things like, "When the time is right, you'll find out." He claimed his duties were important, but he was elusive about the specifics. We knew he was a friend of Georges, so we figured he served some type of purpose for the team.

However, as the show progressed, Tate seemed like he was there just to hang out. He was also frequently successful in stirring up Koscheck with some smack talk, which was entertaining. In this week's episode it looked more like Koscheck was provoking Brad, but it was definitely back and forth. I'm sure we'll see more of their interactions as it all unfolds, but as for Tate's purpose, I still never figured it out. Besides getting the red team ice or talking trash to Koscheck, Brad Tate remained a mystery."

Folks, editing can really paint anyone any color. This is a reality show, and they are trying to promote a fight with Koscheck. Of course they are going to make Kos look like a bully on the show and get people like you ... who will undoubtedly buy into it and get all riled up for " oh mr poor male nurse being bullied by that dick I hope GSP beats his ass for poor Brad Tate"

I won't disagree with the fact that some of Koschecks antics are childish, but the guy is playing into the heel role, and trying to generate ratings for the show... He's been doing it his whole career.

He's a hard worker who is in shape year round and one of the best ww's in the world. So don't say dumb shit like "how is he in AKA" when your going off of information from a reality show.

thats very interesting the guy does seem like kind of a dick but the fact that the guy was provoking koscheck at times and kos apparently resorts to choking him shows that kos can dish it out but he cant take it.

Your reaction is exactly what the editors of the show want and you obviously didn't read the blog and if you did you get a big fat F in reading comprehension.

From the sounds of the blog, this was a 2 way street and perhaps Mr. Male Nurse shouldn't write checks his ass can't cash. People act a lot differently in front of TV cameras. Kos is no exception and from the sounds of Watson's blog, either is Mr Tate aka Male Nurse. He was probably encouraged to be brought in to stir up some trouble since GSP wouldn't dare risk the clean cut image he projects.

Your only looking at one side of this and forgetting this show at the end of the day needs ratings just as much as it needs to crown a TUF winner.

Kos isn't a heel....it takes some acting ability to pull that off, of which he doesn't have....no, Kos is your everday meat head....he doesn't even sell a fight that well, he needs to learn from the best, from Mr. Chael Sonnen.

i dont know about the commercial but i remember watching michael johnson's fight against wilkinnson (i think) and between the first and second round they showed the fighters doing their little talking commercial and than in the actual show commercial at the very end of it it clearly showed michael rncing wilkinson before the fight was even done. i dvr'd it and even watched it a couple more times and it definately is quite obvious who wins the fight before its even done

Not sure what you mean by this.

People absolutely have the right to defend themselves, sure. However, the response has to be proportionate to the the attack, or one exposes oneself to the potential for legal action.
If I taunt/insult/swear at you, you are legally okay to do the same back to me; it's proportionate and reasonable.
If I taunt/insult/swear at you, and you walk over to me, grab my throat, and start choking me, you are wide open for litigation and/or an assault rap.

Street justice might seem satisfying in the moment, and certainly sounds good online, but (especially) in this particular case, where there were at least a dozen live witnesses, and it was all recorded... not so much.
