Default TUF: Flyweights

Wouldn't that make the most sense for next season. or maybe a season down the road. The winner gets crowned as the new UFC Flyweight champion.

Not only does this change it up a bit for TUF, but also it's a great way to introduce a new weight class. This way you have fans conncting with a bunch of guys and establishing a known person as first champion, as well as possible contenders.

It just kinda came to me while watching that Ariel-White video about the merger. maybe once the merger is complete and people have gotton used to it throw this into the mix. What are your thoughts

p.s. my question mark key does not work anymore so its hard to make it seem like i'm asking a question.

so some 22 year old american wins TUF flyweight, becomes the champion of a weightclass the UFC has no plans of including, and then gets shithoused by the first japanese fighter he faces. i don't think this is the best idea...

just having the BW/FrW classes at TUF's disposal will be enough to keep us busy for awhile. i'm pretty happy with that.

I didn't mean a bunch of noobs. I mean the best guys out there in the world who want to be the Flyweight champion. And it was to my understanding they have full intention of bringing this weight class into fruition in the UFC.

I just saw it kinda like season four, the comeback. Accept this time it's just the best Flyweights out there who want the belt hold a tournament. I dunno, seemed like a decent idea to me instead of just not having that division at all.

Id rather see a tourney spaced over a few ppv's, so guys could have at least some attempt at a decent training camp..

Great, another weight class.... I hope MMA doesn't turn into boxing where there is a weight class every 3 to 5 pounds. What is flyweight, up to 125? Most people I know who watch MMA don't even care about the 135 weight class, there arguement is that how many grown men weigh 135 lbs, not many (at least not in Europe and greater North America). If they are going to make a new weight class, it should be around 230 or 235.

I rather like the smaller weights. Normally their cardio is off the charts.

You do have a good point but then again Xanatos makes a great point in giving exposure to FWs, which will be the bigger issue. In the end, people will mainly care about the finals (the title bout) in the tournament, and the fighters will have plenty of time for a decent training camp.

If they're bringing in world class fighters, they could change the format of the show to concentrate more on training.

I've always wondered what it would be like to watch fleshless skeletons fight.

I do not think the UFC has any interest in adding the Flyweight division. Its not deep enough at the moment and its all Japanese fighters. Which as we know are very hard to get to leave Japan and come fight in America.

Also I hate the idea of a TUF tourny for a title. TUF is less about who is the best fighter in the tourny and more about who can surive fighting 3 to 4 fights in 6 weeks injury free. A somewhat minor injury can eliminate guys from TUF. Forrest was almost eliminated because of a cut over his eye remember. If it was not in the UFC format then the cut would have been an after thought and only needed a week or so to heal up and take the stiches out. But on TUF he was almost gone because he had to fight again in about 3 days.
