Default TUF 13, newest episode.

So, who else watched this episode?

What stands out to me,is how Shamar handled loosing. He couldnt get one TD with seemed to really bother him,and Chris has amazing TDD to keep the fight standing. What really bothered me was Shamar went to Dana, and said,I wanted to show you I could bang. Then Dana called him on his bullshit, and said you tried to take him down, and Shamar used the bad back excuse. Which I think is a lie seeing as Shamar has had the longest time off.

So anyone else impressed with the fights were getting? Really pick up this episode.

I thought Shamar sucked ass in and out of the cage. Bitch move using an excuse after Dana called him out on his shit. Another bitch move talking shit after he clearly lost that fight.

How could he possibly believe he won that fight when he didn't land anything on the feet and couldn't get 1 takedown. He really thought because he pushed Cope against the cage and stood there while getting peppered in the face he won?

I guess in his dictionary "fight" is defined as pushing and grabbing while whiffing on all 6 of your strikes.

I doubt Dana appreciated the injury excuse. That's just lame.

My question is WHY THE FUCK DOES JDS NEVER TELL HIS FIGHTERS THAT THEY ARE LOOSING??!! I swear he is the worst cornerman I have ever seen. If you fighter is clearly loosing and not managing to do anything, then why the hell would you keep gassing his head up as though he is doing well? WHy not just tell him that he is loosing so he will use some urgency?? Ive been very let down all around this season by the fighters/coaching.

I thought the first round was fairly close, Shamar did land some punches, and was being the aggressor, but Chris owned him in the TDD, close round but Chris takes it.As for the second, it was all Chris, in the stand-up and TDD, which made all the difference I believe.

It was how Shamar handled the lose that I think will cost him a fight in the finally. While Chris is the darkhorse to win this competition.

I think everyone covered anything I'd have to say about the Shamar/Chris fight.

I laughed aloud when the Palestinian kid was hyping himself up, bouncing around, slapping fives and shadowboxing and says something like, "Yeah, I threw up! So what?! He still can't beat me!"

He fought horribly and couldn't get him down, when his wrestling is his strength. He deserved to lose.

Lesnar vs. Lenny, who ya got? a couple of episodes ago lenny said he wanted to fight brock.

I haven't liked either Shamar or Chris since the start....I thought Shamar won the first round...he did control the fight, even though he didn't get any takedowns or land more than a couple strikes, he did dictate exactly where the fight would take place.

I think they gave the round to Chris for preventing the takedown.

I have seen this before in other fights, where one fighter (because he is so favored) is expected to do more than he does, so they give it to the other guy.

I think both rounds could have been scored 10-10.

I thought the fight was pretty uneventful, it was somewhat entertaining, watching a wrestler try and take someone down for two rounds, while one guy does great at defending the takedown and looking busy....not much else.

Shamar was so one dimensional....trying to counter, moving back and trying a takedown from the waist.....never going for singles or changing side to side. He looked horrible.

Chris Cope did better than Shamar did in the fight, but according to the judging rules, I don't think I saw Chris winning. I gave the aggression to Chris Cope, he tried moving forward and striking a couple times, but he doesn't use his jab enough. He lunges in too much....and if Shamar was a little better with his striking, he could have taken Chris out.

Chris did take one nice counter and there were a couple more near misses where Shamar could have done damage.

Neither guy should be considered UFC worthy.

Unless the winner of the show is Ramsay, they should send the winner to SF Challengers series.

Thought I would include Lew's thoughts:

Team Dos Santos blog: Lew Polley on "The Ultimate Fighter 13," episode No. 8 | MMAjunkie.com

Quote:
I feel Shamar won the round solely based on what is supposed to be judging criteria. He controlled where the fight took place, he was the most aggressive and pressed the action with cleaner landing of strikes. Bouncing around and defending takedowns does not constitute controlling a fight.

The second round started with Chris gaining a bit more confidence in his approach. He started to let his hands go more, which showed he was starting to get over whatever insecurities he had at the beginning of the fight. Shamar pressed forward and got Chris on the cage, but Chris battled for a bit and managed to get off.

Chris was throwing punches in combinations and Shamar was only throwing single shots. That was allowing Chris to find his rhythm. Shamar recognized this and immediately worked Chris to the cage and started throwing short shots. Chris again countered and reversed the position. The round was going back and forth, but Shamar was forcing the fight to the cage, while Chris just looked busy. The round ended with everyone on Junior Dos Santos' team thinking the same thing: Shamar did enough to win. Instead, the judges render a decision in favor of Chris.

I had told Shamar that in those situations, you have to be decisive and nullify any chance to give the other guy a break. Chris is a momentum fighter, and you have to take the idea of winning out of his mind completely by outclassing him. If you get him in a bad spot, keep him there. Chris is like herpes he will hang around forever if you let him.

On a side note, judging has to be more clear-cut. What exactly are judges scoring and what constitutes controlling a round? What is damage? How do you measure damage? If both fighters look the same, how do you know who did more?

I mention this because of fights like Diego Sanchez vs. Martin Kampmann, every fight with Nik Lentz, Kampmann vs. Jake Shields and Alan Belcher vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama. What is the criteria for judging? In each one of the aforementioned examples, the judging was very different.

Lentz does very little to no damage but wins based on control and position. Kampmann lost both fights but did way more damage throughout the entirety of each contest. Belcher completely outstruck Akiyama and did more damage but lost. I'm not saying that this fight was on that level, but I do feel Shamar won – or at worst should have gone to a third round. Maybe I am a little biased, but I know what I saw, and that was a guy lose based on bad judging.
Don't totally agree...but I don't think Chris winning was that clear cut.

I would like if the UFC changed judging on the show and they reported the judges scores after every round. Then none of this shit would happen....the reason they don't show the scores after every round in PPV fights and TV fights is because of betting and I am sure Buffer would rather announce the winner.....but when it is in the TUF environment.....who cares? Let the fighters know....make sure they KNOW they are fighting for the win.
