| 'The Ultimate Fighter 16' debuts Sept. 14 on FX 'The Ultimate Fighter 16' debuts Sept. 14 on FX | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
The next installment of "The Ultimate Fighter," the UFC's long-running reality series, debuts Friday, Sept. 14, on FX.
As with "TUF 15" (also dubbed "TUF: Live") earlier this year, "TUF 16" remains in its Friday-night timeslot, but it returns to a taped format without live fights.
Heavyweight contenders Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson serve as opposing head coaches on the long-running competition/reality series.
This season begins with 32 UFC hopefuls. After an elimination round of fights, the 16 winning fighters become official cast members. They're then drafted into opposing teams coached by Carwin and Nelson.
Unlike some past seasons, "TUF 16" will use a single-elimination tournament format with no wild-card/second-chance fights.
UFC officials have not yet announced this season's group of 32 fighters.
The show concludes with a live finale on Dec. 1. Carwin (12-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Nelson (17-7 MMA, 4-3 UFC) also meet at the event, which is slated to take place in Las Vegas.
"TUF" launched on Spike TV in 2005 and has been a groundbreaking series for the UFC. The show has launched the careers of nearly 200 UFC fighters and has produced champions such as Rashad Evans, Forrest Griffin and Matt Serra. Nelson, in fact, entered the UFC after winning "TUF 10."

Colton Smith is a douche. Faking the glove touch to shoot immediately.... I hope the guy gets KTFO next matchup.

I really enjoyed the premiere episode, there were some good fights but I was a little confused at some of the entry matchups, as a few had some of my higher ranked prospects paired off against each other, while alot of lower level "meh" fighters were paired off too, which got them into the house when I don't think they were as good.
Dana's asinine comments during the fights made a complete ass out of himself all night long, constantly bitching about "boring wrestling/grappling" and after a while it was like, "dude, shut the fuck up, this is part of MMA". With his incessant moaning and bitching, you'd almost think that Dana should just install a 30 second standup if he doesn't like takedowns, it was really silly. I dunno, it was really oft-putting, I could only imagine what it would be like listening to him during a UFC event lol.
Colton Smith pulled a cunt move and deserves to get stretched. If I was Dana, I'd have told him to get the fuck out of the show on the spot.
Also, IMO Carwin picked the far superior team. I think the level of fighters he chose are going to run through Nelson's, who seemed aloof and unorganized. They seem to almost to be developing a storyline of Dana vs. Roy over Roy/Shane, but the previews seem cool.
Here's how I have the current TUF fighters ranked:
1. Sam Alvey
2. Dominic Waters
3. Neil Magny
4. Igor Araujo
5. Mike Ricci
6. Bristol Marunde
7. Cameron Diffley
8. Nic Herron-Webb
9. James Chaney
10. John Manley
11. Mike Hill
12. Eddy Ellis
13. Colton Smith
14. Julian Lane
15. Joey Rivera
16. Matt Secor

So glad Julian lost last night.
He seems like the biggest douche and least talented fighter on the show.
He didn't do shit in the 2nd round and then cried like a bitch afterwards in the locker room.
Can't go out there and throw hay makers the whole time with no technique hoping they'll land, ya fool.

Way to much in house drama again this season and not enough time spent showing the training.
The two coaches seem to not really be coaching alot. Roy wants to draw straws and Shane seems to do nothing but give little speeches but come fight time he is no where to be seen.

But U.K. does seem to be the bigger guys.
Even in the 1st episode some of the Aussies were like "I can't tell if you guys are Lightweights, Welterweights, or Middleweights.
But as for talent goes it seems pretty good from both teams, but I think the U.K. guys might be the better fighters.
