Frank Shamrock Announces Retirement From MMA


Former UFC Middleweight Champion and Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Frank Shamrock announced his retirement from Mixed Martial Arts this evening during the Showtime broadcast of Strikeforce: Fedor Vs. Werdum.

Shamrock is commonly referred to as a pioneer in the sport and considered one of the first truly well rounded MMA fighters.

His last fight was a drubbing at the hands of Nick Diaz and prior to that Shamrock lost the Strikeforce Middleweight Title to Cung Le.

He was the first UFC Middleweight Champion (later the LHW 205lb. Title), a former King of Pancrase, WEC LHW Champ, and Strikeforce Middleweight Champion.
