Former Strikeforce champion Gegard Mousasi went on the offensive outside of the Octagon this past weekend.
Mousasi, who has been known for his stoic demeanor, pulled a Michael Bisping right in front of Bisping – and impressed the Brit after his win over Thales Leites.
“I’ve never seen so much personality out of Gegard,” said Bisping, during the post-fight press conference (thanks to MMAjunkie.com for the quotes). “I like this Gegard. Look at this guy. You’ve got a snappy shirt on.”
Bisping and Mousasi (38-6-2) were expected to headline the UFC Fight Night 84 card from London, but Mousasi was replaced by Anderson Silva.
Asked how he would like to face next, Mousasi replied, “Vitor Belfort. I’ve been chasing that guy for a long time.”
He also was critical of the reception the English fans gave him for his decision win over Leites.
“I could have gone and taken unnecessary chances and lose because I want to please the crowd,” Mousasi said. “They don’t pay the bills – well, maybe, I don’t know. But who cares. Give me some good names and maybe then I’ll get fired up.”
