Glover Teixeira Could Earn Title Shot With Win Over Ryan Bader

UFC light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira could earn himself a shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship with an impressive performance in his next outing according to UFC exec Marshall Zelaznik who revealed the news following UFC 163 this past weekend in Brazil.

Teixeira faces Ryan Bader in his next fight, which is expected to take place in September at UFC on FOX Sports 1: 3.

“Dana and Joe have confirmed with a strong victory by Glover that he probably gets the winner of the Jon Jones fight,” Zelaznik said.

Jones faces Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 in October.

“Glover’s got an opportunity to go for that belt with a big win, so we’re expecting big things in Belo Horizonte,” Zelaznik said.

what? is bader even ranked in the top 10? has the lhw division fallen that far? that is pathetic. of course, he’ll destroy bader (who hasn’t?). but then he’ll get wrecked by jones. i think a teixeira v. mousasi fight would’ve been better for the fans. bader hasn’t been relevant in years. but, i’m not the boss. i hope that card is better than 163.

Wow. Glover has beaten tough guys but no one spectacular yet. They have him ranked where he is without beating a real top ten guy other than rampage. Popularity contest is going to get glover crushed and fall harder than silva did.
