Jamie Varner To Defend WEC Title Against Marcus Hicks


MMAJunkie.com is reporting that newly crowned WEC Lightweight Champ Jamie Varner will make his first title defense against Marcus Hicks.

Varner won the title by defeating Rob McCullough during a February WEC event.

Varner who holds a 14-2 record, is on a 3 fight win streak since losing to Hermes Franca at UFC 62. Hicks on the other hand has yet to taste defeat and holds an 8-0 record.

The fight is likely to take place on August 3rd and MMAjunkie.com is thinking that the event will be formally announced this weekend during WEC 34: Faber Vs. Pulver
