Jones Replacing Evans In Title Bout Against Shogun In March

MMANEWS.COM Staff Writer

The next light heavyweight title fight was originally scheduled to be “Suga” Rashad Evans vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128. Rashad, who blew out his knee and was ultimately pulled from the match, left an opening for the title fight in Newark, NJ on March 19th against Shogun.

Tonight at the UFC 126 event in Las Vegas, Nevada, after Jon Jones beat Ryan Bader via a guillotine submission at 4:20 of round two, they announced he will now face Shogun for the light heavyweight title. Jones put on an extraordinary show at UFC 126 against Bader, which definitely paid off as he now holds the number one contender spot for the UFC title.
