Jose Aldo Turns Down Replacement Fight With McGregor At UFC 196

With Rafael dos Anjos sidelined by a broken foot, the UFC is trying to find a replacement to fight Conor McGregor on March 5th at UFC 196. One name you can cross off the list is former featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

“Dana (White) called me, telling what happened and asking if Aldo was in shape to fight,” Aldo’s coach and manager Andre Pederneiras told Combate.

“I said he wasn’t and that there wasn’t enough time, and unfortunately he wouldn’t be able to fight next week.”

UFC 196 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and will air on PPV, FOX Sports 1, and UFC Fight Pass.
