UFC has announced an intriguing match between two highly-ranked UFC Middleweight contenders for their upcoming UFX On FOX 15 event in April.
Coming off an impressive 62 second TKO over C.B. Dollaway in December, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida, who is currently the third-ranked contender in the UFC Middleweight division, will make his return against another highly-regarded 185-pound contender.
Machida’s opponent for the 4/18 event is none other than Luke Rockhold, the fifth ranked contender in the UFC Middleweight division, who submitted Michael Bisping back in November to improve his winning streak to 3-0 in his last three fights.
According to the UFC announcement, Machida and Rockhold could be fighting to determine the number one contender to the UFC Middleweight Championship, which will be defended by current champion Chris Weidman against Vitor Belfort at UFC 184 on February 28th.
Machida and Rockhold will headline the UFC On FOX 15 event, which takes place on Saturday, April 18th from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
