M-1 Global Announces Award Nominees for Inaugural Season

Much like the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball, M-1 Global's M-1 Challenge is a mixed martial arts competition conducted in a team format. And much like those U.S.-based professional organizations, M-1 will be handing out awards in recognition of its inaugural season.

The awards ceremony will take place on Dec. 26 at the Emerald Queen Casino in Seattle, Washington during the first-ever championship finals of the M-1 Challenge, which will feature Team Russian Red Devil taking on Team Holland. The card is completed with several American fighters who will be facing the toughest M-1 Challenge fighters who didn’t make it to the finals.

Awards will to be announced on Dec. 26 in categories that include “Most Outstanding Fighter,” “Most Exciting Fighter,” and “Most Promising Fighter.”

In the “Most Outstanding Fighter” category, nominees consist of Jessie Gibbs of Team Holland, Jarno Nurminen of Team Finland, and Daisuke Nakamura of Team Japan. for the “Most Exciting Fighter,” the nominees are Bogdan Christea of Team Holland, Mikail Malyutin
of Team Russian Legion, and Maktar Gueye of Team France.

And in the “Most Promising Fighter” category, Team Russian Red Devil's Kirill Sidelnikov, Jake
Ellenberger of Team USA, and Juan Manuel Suarez of Team Spain have all been nominated.

Sidelnikov, the protege of WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko, will be making his
U.S. debut on Jan. 24 during Affliction and M-1's “Day of Reckoning” pay-per-view event at the
Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Gibbs, who went 4-0 during the M-1 Challenge regular season, and Christea, who made his M-1
debut earlier this year after having been involved in a serious automobile accident that nearly resulted in the amputation of one of his arms, are both scheduled to compete for Team Holland during the M-1 Challenge Finals on Dec. 26.

Tickets for the M-1 Challenge Finals are now available online through Ticketmaster.com. The M-1 Challenge can also be seen weekly in the U.S. every Friday at 8 p.m. ET on HDNet.
