Brian Geraghty Give Tuf Advice, Recap of Recent Win

Sid Needelman Reporting...

Coming of a recent win in which "Dangerous Duke Danger" Brian Geraghty (24-11-1) recently fought and beat Shaun Kuhl at Dave Strasser's Freestyle Combat Challenge 33 in Kenosha, WI. After beating Kuhl via arm bar at the 1:42 mark in the first, he was happy to talk about his victory, advice for future MMA reality show fighters and about his future.

He describes the fight to me as if he was in the stands himself two weeks back:

The fight did not last very long but here's a quick play by play of the bout. Geraghty came out and hit Kuhl with a feint to the head then a jab to the body. Kuhl then clinched Geraghty and they traded knees. Brian hit Shaun with some nice knees and started to take control of the round. At this point Brian was winning and he hit a nice duck under take down. But, Kuhl got to Brian's back and tried to pick up and slam him. Geraghty went down on his knees and took a kimura and turned the guard. Geraghty then finished the fight from there as he transitioned to an arm bar and Kuhl tapped out. It was a nasty powerful arm bar, which ended up breaking Kuhl's arm.

"I went for the arm bar. He tried to post up and stomp on my face and then I heard three snaps (bop bop bop) and then he yelped and tapped and that was it," Geraghty stated.

I was able to ask him several questions and he was more than happy to answer.

MMANews:

With the next season of "The Ultimate Fighter" coming up do you have any advice for the new guys?

Brian:

"Just stay calm, stay relaxed. Try not to dwell on home life, what's going on there with your girlfriend and stuff like that. Don't piss off Dana White. Pee in the pool and eat as much of the free food as you possibly can."

MMANews:

Who do you want to fight next?

Brian:

"I'd like to fight anyone in the 145 lb. division."

MMANews:

What are your thoughts on UFC 82?

Brian:

"I actually didn't watch the UFC because I was home sick... I know... I'm kinda lame... oh well. But, I heard the event was exciting so I will be sure to check out the Anderson Silva v. Dan Henderson fight."

MMANews:

What do you think about the CBS deal?

Brian:

"My agent just told me about the deal. I think it's great for MMA and that the added exposure will bring more fans to our already very popular sport. "

MMANews:

Who have you been training with and why?

Brian:

"I've been training with my team in Wisconsin and Illinois at the freestyle academy and a great deal with my boxing coach Lazzo. They know how to get me ready for fights."

MMANews:

What have you improved most upon since "The Ultimate Fighter"?

Brian:

"The thing I've improved on most since TUF is just training harder and concentrating more on conditioning and cardio. Now that I don't have a full time job makes that a lot easier."
