UFC 76 Fight/Submission Of The Night Bonuses Revealed
Posted on Sep 25, 2007
Dana White revealed the bonus payouts at the UFC 76 post-fight press conference for "Fight of the Night" and "Submission of the Night". Normally there is a third bonus, which would go to "Knockout of the night" but due to the fact that UFC 76 "Knockout" had no KOs, there was obviously no bonus given for that category.
Fight of the night honors went to Tyson Griffin vs. Thiago Tavares, which was an all-over-the-place opening bout on the live pay-per view card. Both Griffin and Tavares were given a bonus of $40,000 each on top of their contracted pay. Submission of the night honors went to Forrest Griffin for his rear naked choke submission victory over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the semi-main event of the card. Griffin was given $40,000 on top of his contracted pay as well. At the press conference, Griffin jokingly apologized to Christian Wellisch, who was the only other fighter on the card to win by submission - a heel hook over Scott Junk in a Heavyweight preliminary bout. We should have full UFC 76 fighter pay details up on the site later today. DISCUSS THIS NEWS IN THE MMANEWS.COM FORUMS >> |
