UFC president Dana White was recently questioned by a fan on his official Twitter account why he would sign former PRIDE and K-1 star Mark Hunt (5-6) despite Hunt currently riding an 0-5 streak in his last five MMA bouts (dropping all five in the first round, no-less).

As could've been expected, White wasn't shy and didn't duck the difficult question. In fact he gave a response within 20 minutes addressing the situation and answering the question directly.

White wrote the following in a Twitter response:

"part of the pride deal we contractually owe him fights from our purchase of the company"

So there you have it. Many in the MMA community were shocked when the news broke that Mark Hunt would be fighting at UFC 119 on September 25th against fellow UFC newcomer Sean McCorkle (9-0), going as far as to call it a fake news story due to the idea being so against the UFC style. Apparently it's as simple as an obligatory legal situation.
