According to numerous reports on the internet, the most famous referee in MMA history, "Big" John McCarthy is scheduled to referee the UFC On Versus 2 card, featuring the headline attraction of Jon "Bones" Jones vs. "The Janitor" Vladimir Matyushenko.

If true, it would be McCarthy's first referee gig with the world's largest MMA promotion since turning in his referee shirt in exchange for a microphone at any of the various broadcasting gigs related to the sport. McCarthy has dawned a referee shirt since making that decision, just never for the place he made his name dating back to the early UFCs in the mid-1990s.

UFC On Versus 2: Jones vs. Matyushenko emanates from the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, California on August 1st. The card will of course be televised on the Versus cable channel.
