Five Fighters Who Need To Hang The Gloves Up
Posted on Jul 18, 2010
Chuck Liddell: For nine full years “The Iceman” proved his worth within the cage. Known for being able to absorb brutal punishment, and known even more for his ability to recover, and serve fight finishing strikes, Liddell’s fight mileage has finally caught up with him. Liddell has put together a disheartening 1-5 record in his last 6 bouts. Four of those losses were brutal knockouts. Liddell, like the aforementioned boxers has begun to slow down mentally; slurred speech and a now fragile chin plague the former UFC light heavyweight champion. It’s time for one of the greatest light heavyweights of all time to hang the gloves up, before sustaining anymore neurological damage.

Ken Shamrock: Shamrock’s mind still seems to be functioning fairly well, but, like Liddell his ability to take a punch has all but disappeared. With 43 bouts on his résumé, Ken has absorbed far too many injuries, undergone multiple surgeries and seems to have lost his ability to match the sports current competition. With only two victories in his last 10 bouts, it’s time for Shamrock to contemplate retirement while his brain is still in a fairly fully functional state.
