Cruiserweight Boxing Champion Wants To Fight Brock Lesnar, Sort Of

IBO cruiserweight boxing champion Danny Green was recently interviewed by FOX Sports and the subject of UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar came up.

Green said he would like to fight the UFC heavyweight champion, but with stand-up only rules.

Green is known to many fans as the guy who knocked out Roy Jones Jr. in the first round of their fight in December of 2009. The loss for Jones temporarily screwed up plans for a long-awaited showdown between he and fellow boxing legend Bernard Hopkins. For the record, even at that point a Jones-Hopkins fight was insanely past its' due date - by years - and despite the loss, the fight ended up coming together anyways. That's boxing for ya.

Or Strikeforce based on moves being made in their heavyweight division lately.

Green told FOX Sports, "Would I like to fight Brock Lesnar? Absolutely. The IBO champ continued, "It would have to be a stand up fight. I know my limitations and there's no way I could compete with Lesnar on the ground. The bloke outweighs me by plenty and was a champion college wrestler. But to stand inside a steel cage and use fists and elbows, I'd even fight bare knuckle if that's what it take to get him Down Under and inside a steel cage."

Baroni
Phil Baroni is kind of the same way. The first fight he had with the late Evan Tanner, he was like fucking godzilla for the first few minutes. One of those rare instances, very similar to Carwin annihilating Lesnar in round one of their fight, where the action was kinda like -- violent. Like the kind of violent where even the most die-hard of fight fan, who has seen it all, looks at it like - that's just incredibly violent looking. Minutes later, he wasn't worth a shit, Tanner completely turned it around on him. That's just one example off the top of my head, since I just read this article http://www.mmanews.com/news/88434 about Baroni from the main page.

and you aswell
Well stated my friend. Carwin does have a VERY tiny gas tank it seems. I he has to hold the record for someone punching themselves out in such a timely manner. Man if he could maintain the gas I would have actually been scared for leznar after the first two minutes.

Boxing rules
But he said boxing rules. Green ain't a heavyweight either, he's a cruiserweight. That actually helps your point. However I think in a boxing rules match, in a cage or not, Green would dance circles around Carwin and eventually do him in with the small gloves at some point when big boy gets-ta' huffin and puffin. If it's everything MMA is minus the ground, I'd probably still take Green, but I'd see ur point much better. If it's boxing rules, Carwin can't hold on to him with his brute power -- there's no clinching in boxing. It'd legit be punch vs punch with footwork vs footwork mixed in. Green's speed, foot work, and 100x better fundamentals in boxing would be too much for big boy

yeah
I could see carwin smashing him up against the fence and breaking his face seeing as carwin weighs in at a rock solid 265 and (usually) any heavyweight boxer (legit or not) only weighs in at about 235. I think youre underestimating the brute force power of carwin. And that's coming from a Guy that was on Brock's side in the battle of Godzilla and KingKong

Carwin
Carwin is a heavyweight wrestler, NCAA champion too lol. He just hits hard. He'd get gobbled up in 2 seconds by any legit heavyweight boxer (and there ain't many)
