$60,000 in bonus money was awarded to four fighters in Oakland on Saturday night following the UFC 117 pay-per view event.
Earning "Fight of the Night" honors, as if it were any surprise, was UFC middleweights Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. The two put on an amazing main event on Saturday, and each will take home an additional $60,000 because of it. Kind of ...
Silva will actually walk home with an extra $120,000, as he also picked up a "Submission of the Night" bonus for his come-from-behind triangle choke submission victory over Sonnen in the fifth round of their championship battle.
Sharing the honors with the middleweight champ is the newest inductee into the UFC Hall Of Fame, Matt Hughes. Hughes earns an additional $60,000 in bonus money for his unnamed bully-style choke/headlock on Ricardo Almeida.
And finally, picking up $60,000 in extra loot is Stefan Struve, for his stunning knockout of Christian Morecraft at just over 20 seconds of the second round of their fight, a fight that Struve was badly losing in the round prior to the big knockout.
