UFC 118 Post-Show Bonuses Revealed: No KO Of The Night Award

MMANEWS.COM Staff Writer Nate Diaz and Marcus Davis joined local favorite Joe Lauzon as the three recipients of the post-UFC pay-per view bonuses, a financial reward given to fighters for "Fight of the Night", "Knockout of the Night" and "Submission of the Night." Each man takes home an additional $60,000 on top of their contracted fight purse as part of a motivational idea the UFC brass came up with to drive fighters to perform to the best of their abilities during matches they compete in on UFC live events. As has been the case with a few shows in the past, only two of the three awards were presented following the big event at Boston's TD Garden Arena on Saturday night [[detailed UFC 118 results available here], as there were no officially recorded knockouts on the UFC 118 card. The "Submission of the Night" award went to Joe Lauzon, who secured a scary looking armbar on his UFC 118 opponent Gabe Ruediger, to take home a "W" via submission. Lauzon used the move to cap off what was a very one-sided performance in the featured pre-PPV television bout with Ruediger. The match was the second of two live preliminary fights broadcasted on Spike TV (in real-time) as a televised lead-in type promotional vehicle for UFC's pay-per view events.
