MMANEWS.COM Staff Writer According to multiple sources, an interesting lightweight contest between top contenders Joe Lauzon and George Sotiropoulos is being arranged for the main pay-per view card at UFC 123 on November 20th. With both guys near the top of the lightweight division, which is in the midst of major changes at the top of the ranks, an impressive performance on either side could have title implications. In fact, the winner would be likely for a shot at the man who emerges as champion after the announced Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard title match. Lauzon (19-5) is coming off the most impressive performance at the recent "MMA vs. Boxing" themed card, which was UFC's debut in the Boston market. The hometown kid came in and did his job against the unfavorable Gabe Ruediger, destroying the fellow Ultimate Fighter veteran in one tick over the two minute mark of their UFC 118 undercard match. Meanwhile, Sotiropoulos (13-2) has been in the middle of an expected run to the top of the division, riding a seven fight undefeated streak, including an unblemished 6-0 run for his entire UFC run thus far, the Australian standout has put away two highly regarded fighters -- Kurt Pellegrino and Joe "Daddy" Stevenson -- in his latest pair of trips to the UFC octagon. A win for the TUF winner against Lauzon at UFC 123 would very likely set up a title shot at either Edgar or Maynard sometime in 2011.
