“The African Assassin" Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou will look to win his third straight fight this weekend when he steps in at Shark Fights 13 against fellow UFC veteran Houston Alexander in Amarillo, Texas.

The former PRIDE and UFC star will has been in the gym training for the bout and spoke to MMANEWS.COM about the fight and more this week.

“I've been training for a few weeks for this fight and I feel really good. [Alexander] is a good fighter with a bunch of power, and that could lead to an exciting fight. So I’m excited about fighting him," Sokoudjou told MMANEWS.COM. “I have no injuries and nothing to worry about. I just need to have fun and put on a good show.”

If Sokoudjou is able to string together three wins some may expect that he would get another shot in the UFC, but that isn’t something that is on the Team Quest fighter’s agenda. “I’m happy to be fighting at this point. I would love to go to the UFC but I want to be fighting more often. That's the problem with the UFC. They have good fighters but to fight them it takes so long and then they have layoffs and it’s not just what I’m looking for right now,” Sokoudjou said of his former employer. “I'm a professional fighter not a professional trainee so you need to spend time in the ring or cage as well.”

Sokoudjou fights this weekend for Shark Fights, then follows that up in October with the Abu Dhabi Fighting Championships Grand Prix. He will fight again in November, though he did not offer an opponent or venue. “That is how I like to do it because I can always be refocusing my training on different styles instead of always training the same things and never knowing what I need to focus on.”
