Diaz Speaks On Miller And GSP

The following quotes are excerpts from a Thursday Strikeforce conference call in which Nick Diaz spoke candidly, as usual.

Diaz takes a few moments to clear up the Jason Miller debacle, as well as speak on a potential clash with UFC welterweight champion, and pound-for-pound ranked Georges St. Pierre.

“I’d be happy to move up. I don't like that people say that I didn't accept the fight with Miller, because I never said anything about that. I said, if I’m going to go off track and screw with my capabilities to fight at 170 pounds, I’d like to get paid in full,” stated Diaz in refute to the rumors he didn’t want to take a bout with Miller. “I’d like to have a reason for doing that. I’d like to get paid something extra -- double, triple, something crazy. I’d [even move down in weight], honestly. Offer me a big money fight at 155 pounds and I'll make it happen.”

That doesn’t sound like a man afraid to take a fight, in my humble opinion.

When addressing GSP, Diaz offered the following, “I want to fight Georges St. Pierre. I think my training partner [Jake Shields] is going to take him out. Straight up. People think this guy's better than me, and it's bulls--t.”

It’s unlikely a clash between Diaz and St. Pierre comes to fruition anytime in the future, but should Diaz find a way to prove he can topple high quality wrestlers in the future, seeing the elder Diaz brother back in the UFC may not be a long shot.

Fuck Diaz
Diaz is good when he's beating up class C competition. He would get smashed by any top 5 ufc ww or mw. I would love to see diaz/mayhem because at least diaz would finally fight someone on his level. And remember Diaz was in the ufc with the best before. And he got cut for dropping 3 in a row. Stay on your class C stage with the rest of the strikefake, I mean the strikeforce roster.

diaz back in the ufc
man i am a huge diaz brothers but gsp is on a crazy level right now i do think shields has nothing gor gsp but nick could offer a difficult fight for gsp if nick gets back in the ufc i think he shoul have a fight before to see if he has grown as a fighter since being let go like a rematch with diego sanchez which was an awesome fight the first go around but before diaz makes his way back to the ufc he needs to look out for the dark horse in the welterweight divison who is on a mission for the title paul daley.

Nick vs gsp
Nick is top 5 at welterweight in the world.. he would give gsp everything he can handle.. If you ask me that kos vs gsp fight was boring.. gsp closed the eye and then what did he do? nothing..gsp is boring.. he couldv finished kos. and fitch for that matter.. Diaz is better than both.. he doesnt get the respect he derserves because hes forced to fight in strikeforce.. Dana wont let nick bac in the UFC becuase of thngs that happened in the past.. andpartly because of his attitude. diaz isnt afraid of the top tier guys he just cant get back into the ufc to prove it.. not ye way..

Spark up another one, you've almost reached Stoner Nirvana. Thinking Shields will defeat GSP is a faling attempt to hype your training partner. And yes, people do think GSP is better than you because... he is. While he's out smashing Koschecks face your boy Jake is 'winning' a fight against Kampmann. sad

GSP
Honestly, GSP had no problem with Fitch, or Koscheck, so it seems unlikely that he will have any trouble with Shields. As much as I love watching the Diaz brothers, Nick has no problems at Strikeforce because he doesn't have to deal with any high level wrestlers. Strikeforce put's on a fun show, but their champs are not the UFC champs, in any weight class. Diaz, Reem, and Melendez could certainly be *competitive* in the UFC, but it's a different level of competition, and I don't see any of them being able to hold a UFC title.
