Hours after learning that Karlos Vemola would take on Luis Artur Cane on the live Spike preliminary show, we’re now discovering that Vemola has withdrawn from the bout, citing a still undisclosed injury.

At this point no replacement for Vemola has been announced, though all indications point to Cane’s participation on the preliminary card.

Who the UFC will find to replace Cane is a mystery, but a wrestler with limited striking abilities would be ideal to get Cane back in the mix of things. With a little rearranging, the hard-nosed Jason Brilz could make for a great test.

The UFC isn’t likely to pull Brilz from UFC 129 after scrambling to assemble the Brilz/Matyushenko bout, and we may be treated to another debut should Joe Silva have difficulties finding an appropriate opponent for Cane.
