Sanchez: Cuts Bring Out A Sense Of Urgency In Me
Posted on Mar 10, 2011
Diego Sanchez looked worse for wear following his close split decision win over Martin Kampmann last week at UFC on Versus 3 and talked about why despite looking like he may have lost he was able to sway the judges in his favor:
"I wasn't really thinking about whether I was winning or losing. I just knew that going into the second and third rounds that they were mine. When you get injured, as a fighter -- you get cut -- you know that the fight could be stopped. So when I get cut it brings something out of me like a sense of urgency, a sense to fight harder. And that's what happened in the fight: I got cut and was like 'alright, well shit, I better leave it all out there.' I just felt like he couldn't hurt me with his punches. I felt like he wasn't going to daze me -- I didn't get dazed at all in the whole fight. I got cut, but I wasn't hurt. I had my legs the whole fight. My vision was fine." Props: Sherdog.com |
