MMANEWS.COM Staff Writer Recently exiled UFC contender, Nate “The Great” Marquardt (31-10-2)has officially signed a multi-fight contract with the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts. BAMMA made the news official on Friday. Marquardt, who enjoyed a very successful stint fighting for the UFC, was booted by promotion president, Dana White after elevated levels of testosterone were discovered in Marquardt’s system. Marquardt cited hormone replacement therapy, but opted not to follow routine procedures and alert the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board in advance of his scheduled UFC Live 4 bout with emerging contender, Rick Story. Marquardt was subsequently suspended by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, but that suspension has since been lifted. “As soon as we received word that the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission lifted Marquardt’s suspension, we jumped at the chance to sign him,” stated BAMMA Vice President Liam Fisher via official release. “He is a top-ranked contender and an asset to any promotion. Words cannot express how excited we are that Marquardt is now fighting under the BAMMA banner.” Marquardt, who met Anderson Silva in an unsuccessful title bid back in 2007, amassed an impressive 10-4 record fighting for the UFC. Nate spent his time competing in the promotion’s middleweight division, though a drop to welterweight was planned by the Greg Jackson rep. Marquardt is expected to continue his plan to fight at 170 pounds. Leave your feedback on this article by posting a comment directly below!
