Carlos Condit Talks Welterweight Title Scene, Wants Diaz Over GSP

MMANEWS.COM Staff Writer Carlos Condit could find himself as the numeber one contender to the UFC Welterweight title if he is to defeat BJ Penn at UFC 137 in October, the same night his teammate and current 170lbs champ Georges St. Pierre defends the title against Nick Diaz. Condit has said in the past that he would fight St. Pierre if it came to fighting for the title but if he has it his way in Las Vegas, Diaz walks away champ for the obvious reasons of not wanting to fight a teammate and more as he explains to MMACanada.net: "Georges St-Pierre is part of Jackson’s camp so I don’t want to see him lose his title. But, on the other hand, I would rather fight Diaz for a couple different reasons. Mainly the fact that he’s not a team mate of mine so I’d like to bypass that whole… you know, any complications that would arise and also I’ve wanted to fight Diaz for a really long time. I think a fight between Diaz would be a very entertaining fight for the fans." To get his wish though, Condit has to beat former champion BJ Penn who will be wanting to remind everyone that he is still a contender in the welterweight division. For this reason Condit spoke about bringing his A-game: "I think I have a lot of different tools to make that happen. BJ is definitely the toughest guy that I’ve ever fought. But, in the past I’ve always risen to the occasion and the tougher the opponent the better I fight. So, this isn’t going to be any different."
