Phan Will Get Shot At Redemption In Garcia Rematch At UFC 136

MMANEWS.COM Staff Writer Back at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale, Nam Phan fought a near pitch-perfect fight against rugged Texan, Leonard Garcia. Utilizing precision counter strikes and stellar footwork it appeared that Nam Phan had easily earned a unanimous decision victory; the judges however, somehow saw a completely different fight, as they awarded Garcia the split decision victory. The fans weren’t happy, Dana White wasn’t happy, and you can bet Nam Phan certainly felt as though his pockets had been turned inside out. Now, Nam will get the chance to avenge that “loss”, as his original UFC 136 opponent, Matt Grice has withdrawn citing an injury. It makes perfect sense to toss Garcia back in the cage with Phan, who’s waited nearly a full year to claim a victory that was his to begin with. The two will meet at 145 pounds, and given the controversy surrounding the pairs first initial meeting, we may get the chance to catch this one on the main card. If all else fails, there’s always Facebook. UFC 136 takes place on October 8, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The event is headlined by a highly anticipated third match between lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar and number one contender Gray Maynard.
