With Demetrious Johnson dropping down to 125 pounds, Eddie Wineland (18-8-1), who was initially slated to meet “Mighty Mouse” at UFC on FOX 2 in a 135 pound tilt, found himself with no opponent for the event. That however changed quickly, as UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has shuffled the deck, now nominating TUF 14 veteran Johnny Bedford (18-9-1) to fill Johnson’s shoes.

Fresh off a decisive victory over Louis Gaudinot, Bedford (who’s pieced together two wins inside his last three bouts) will make a considerable leap in competition, as Wineland, a former WEC champion boasts a significant experience advantage and well-rounded skillset.

Wineland, who has dealt with some career turmoil himself as of late, enters the bout on a two fight skid, having dropped fights to Joseph Benavidez and Urijah Faber consecutively.

UFC on FOX takes place on January 28th, the action will emanate from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
