During a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com, surging middleweight Constantinos Philippou (10-2-0-1) spoke briefly on his upset victory over The Ultimate Fighter season 11 winner Court McGee before expressing a desire to collide with one of the divisions most durable competitors.

"I would like to fight Chris Leben," Philippou stated. "I don't know why, but I think it would be a good fight. I think he's a great fighter, and he chooses to strike although he has the wrestling ability. He chooses to strike, and I think it would make a great fight.

"We're both going to get in and strike and put on a good show. I think that's the guy with the greatest chin, and I would like to test it. I think he's a great fighter, and it would be an honor to fight Chris Leben."

While the matchmaking lies in Joe Silva’s hands, he’s shown a penchant for pairing up fighters who vocalize desired matches. However, Philippou may not even need to call Leben out, as the two seem a perfect fit inside the octagon; two heavy handed, durable brawlers with serviceable wrestling skills. That sounds like a match made in Heaven.

The only problem with this proposed pairing is the fact that fans will be forced to wait until at least November, when Leben has served his year probation, which stems from a failed drug test at UFC 138, where he suffered a TKO loss to Mark Munoz.
