Nick Diaz Turns Down Carlos Condit Fight, Could Return In May

If you were hoping to see Nick Diaz return to the UFC due to Georges St. Pierre vacating the UFC Welterweight Title, think again.

UFC President Dana White spoke about Diaz following UFC on FOX 9 this past weekend and explained that he offered Diaz a number one contenders fight but he turned it down.

Robbie Lawler and Johnny Hendricks will fight to decide the next UFC Welterweight Champion, and White had hoped to have a number one contender fight on the same card featuring Diaz taking on Carlos Condit.

“I was going to do Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz. I met with Nick Diaz in the back here and he doesn’t want the fight,” said White.

Although Diaz turned the offer down, White did say that Diaz could possibly return in 2014, though nothing is for certain:

“He said he doesn’t want the fight and isn’t thinking about coming back, but [he said] maybe he will come back in May.”
