Nick Diaz Vs. Joe Riggs In The Works For Aug. 15th Strikeforce


A welterweight match up between Nick Diaz and Joe Riggs is in the works for Strikeforce's August 15th card. Riggs confirmed the bout was in the works to while Diaz manager and trainer Cesar Gracie also confirmed the possibility of the match up.

The two have met once before, at UFC 57, where Riggs walked away with a unanimous decision victory over the Stockton CA native. The bout didn't end inside the cage though, when the fighters reached the hospital a confrontation occured in the emergency room.

When asked about the bout with Riggs, Gracie stated “That is definetly a match up we will be accepting.”

Riggs is coming off an impressive performance in his last outting, picking up a decision victory over Phil Baroni in June. Diaz on the other hand has won his last five bouts and nine of his last eleven (ten depending on your of thoughts on the Takanori Gomi bout). On the same June card Riggs defeated Baroni, Diaz beat Scott Smith and prior to that, easily defeated Frank Shamrock in April.
