Mr. Ortiz Will Honor Our Troops at California National Guard Banning Armory and PASS (Pass Area Supporting Soldiers) Event

Huntington Beach, CA — (May 14, 2007) — Tito Ortiz, the mixed martial arts champion, who is an ardent supporter of our troops, will be a special guest at an Armed Forces Day program on Saturday, May 19th at the Banning Armory (2041 W. Nicolet St., Banning, CA 92220).

Mr. Ortiz will speak at a ceremony and take part in a meet-and-greet session with the soldiers. He will join members of the California National Guard, PASS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and others to honor active duty military personnel and “Blue Star” families (i.e. those with a loved one on active duty) and “Gold Star” mothers and families of soldiers who have given their lives in defense of our freedom.

The open-to-the-public event starts at 9AM PT and Tito will speak at 11AM PT. California Assemblyman Paul Cook District 65, a retired U.S. Marine Colonel, will also be a guest speaker.

“It is a privilege for me to be invited to this event,” said Mr. Ortiz. “I try to support our troops in any way I can and will continue to do so. Whatever I do, however, doesn’t even come close to what our guard and other soldiers do for us every day. My heart is always with the families of those who serve our country and especially with those whose loved ones have made the ultimate sacrifice.”

Jacob “Tito” Ortiz is a legendary MMA fighter. His career has been mostly within the Ultimate Fighting Championship organization where he was Light-Heavyweight champion and became one of the UFC’s shining stars.
