ProElite just announced the signing of two new fighters â€" Jake Shields and Murilo "Ninja" Rua.

Both fighters will appear in the next EliteXC fight on May 5.

Jake Shields

Team: Team Gracie Fighter

Style: Wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai

Record: 16-4-1

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 170 lbs.

Fighting out of: San Fransisco , CA

Age: 28

Biggest Win: Hayato Sakurai

Jake Shields is known for his technical grappling ability and amazing cardio. The 2 time All American at Cuesta College is currently ranked #6 in the world by MMAweekly and has won his last 5 fights. He joins his training partner and the #9 ranked welterweight in the world, Nick Diaz, on the EliteXC roster. Jake will be making his EliteXC debut on May 5th.

His highlights include:

-Rumble on the Rock Welterweight GP Champion in 2006.

-Former Shooto Champion

-3rd place in the World Submission Championships -Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Champion


Murilo "Ninja" Rua

Style: Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu

Record: 12-7-1

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 185 lbs.

Fighting out of: Curitiba , Brazil

Age: 27

Biggest Win: Mario Sperry

Murilo "Ninja" Rua comes from the world famous Chute Box camp in Brazil , home of Vanderlei Silva and brother Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Only 27 years old, Ninja has already fought some of the best fighters in the world. He is a very well rounded fighter and known for his ultra aggressive style.

He will be a perfect addition to the EliteXC middleweight division, which already boasts David Loiseau and Joey Villasenor. Ninja will make his US debut on EliteXC's May 5th card.
