There have been sites reporting online today that EliteXC is possibly trying to put together a fight between EliteXC Welterweight Champion Jake Shields and Shinya Aoki. Although they very well may be trying to do that, Jake Shields has yet to hear anything about it and it this point it is just a rumor, a rumor that Shields likes the sound of.

"I haven't been offered the fight," stated the Champ "but that would be a fight that I would love to have on any show, I would be happy to fight Aoki."

EliteXC has been looking for opponents for Shields since he won the vacant title back in July. At one point they had him possibly fighting John Alessio on September 20th but that fight, and the card altogether were scrapped late last week. The fight with Alessio is still a fight that could happen, and Shields says it could possibly be on the October 4th CBS card but nothing is official at this time.

"I'm looking for a big fight." Shields tells MMANews.com "I've told them (EliteXC) that I'm even willing to fight there Middleweights."

Shields is a top five welterweight who has expressed a desire to fight top fighters in the past. His goal is to someday get a fight with UFC Welterweight Champion, Georges St. Pierre.

It was also reported HERE last week that Shields is taking offers from other companies but that he needs approval from EliteXC before any of those offers can be made official.
