THE CAGE VENTURES TO HALIFAX FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO/EDMONTON, ALBERTA — May 30, 2007 –Canada’s only national MMA brand, KING OF THE CAGE has its sights set on what could very well be it’s next hot bed of MMA action. The Halifax Forum and Maritime MMA fans are ready for the action that the rest of the country has come accustomed to when KOTC comes to town.

Representatives from TEAM LEGION (QUEBEC), FITPLUS MMA (DARTSMOUTH), ARNIE MUAY THAI (PEI), ABYAYA MMA (WOLFVILLE), TEAM SAIGO (MONCTON N.B.), GLADIATOR MMA (ONTARIO), CUMBERLAND FREESTYLE ACEDMY (HALIFAX) and SUFFER SYSTEM (ONTARIO) are all ready to enter the cage to represent their communities, including the Maritimes, while climbing the KOTC ladder. Some of the most popular athletes from past KOTC events return including the undefeated John Cole (Ontario), striker Tim Thurston (British Columbia), BJJ phenom TJ Grant (Halifax), while 4 time UFC vet Jonathan Goulet will make his KOTC debut against local MMA champion Cory Macdonald!

THE ROAD WARRIOR FACES LOCAL MMA CHAMPION!!!!

JONATHAN GOULET VS. CORY MACDONALD (185 lbs)

Known for his aggressive fighting style and flamboyant ring appearance, Jonathan Goulet has become one of the most feared fighters from Canada. Throughout a 12 fight winning streak he destroyed fighters such as ULTIMATE FIGHTER runner up Luke Cummo, Tony Fryklund, John Allessio and Shonie Carter and also made 4 UFC appearances during his long MMA career. He now goes up a weight class to meet local champion Cory Macdonald, a man who has been leaving a trail of victims all through eastern Canada including his last win in Halifax that earned him a local title.

THE PRIDE OF THE MARITMES RETURNS HOME

TJ GRANT Vs KEVIN MANDERSON (170 lbs)

TJ Grant has been traveling the country fighting from coast to coast and has convinced the MMA world that his talents are that of a world class athlete. It has been several years since he has been the “home town boy” and on July 14 he gets to compete in front of his friends and fans of Halifax. Facing Grant will be another Maritimer who has done his share of traveling and fighting. Kevin Manderson has competed in virtually every MMA organization in Canada has developed a reputation as an athlete who always comes to fight. Both athletes are solid on the mat and are not shy to exchange strikes so the fans can expect a very dynamic fight when Grant and Manderson meet in the cage.

UNLEASHING THE ANIMAL

JOHN “THE ANIMAL” COLE VS. PETE “THE TROOPER” ROGERS (205 lbs)

It took only 22 seconds for John Cole to take care of business in his KOTC debut and silence the critics who felt that his karate background would not benefit him in the cage. He returned at KOTC: CAPITAL CHAOS and showed what he was really made of in a 2 round war with THE MONSTER Jason Bissonnette. In scoring the TKO victory, Cole proved to KOTC matchmakers that we have a legitimate contender in the making. Now he gets to face a warrior with a life time of military combat training in Cape Bretons Pete THE TROOPER Rogers. Rogers has been competing in central Canada and has won his last 2 fights in impressive fashion and now he returns home with hopes of containing the animal.

CLASH OF THE EXTREME STRIKERS

TIM THURSTON VS. ALEX SUNG (160 lbs)

Tim Thurston has been a man possessed as he steamrolls the competition on the west coast. Most recently he used his boxing expertise and take down defense to beat a much more experienced Pat Militich representative. He now flies all the way across Canada to face what many call the “Canadian Genki Sudo” in Alex Sung. Expect the unexpected when Sung enters the cage. Fans have come to expect spinning kicks, flying submission attempts, wild back fists and victory when he enters the cage.

A SOLID UNDERCARD OF KOTC ATHLETES

Shawn Martrand Vs. Tim Skidmore (185)

Ryan Mckenna Vs. Tony Legnaro (155)

Eric Macdonald Vs. Chad Cox (200)

Justin Lajeanese Vs. Chris Myra (145)

Josh Strickland Vs. Matt Acorn (240)

Justin Bougois Vs. Matt Hamilton (155)

Vartan Pour Nick Vs. Neil Walsh (145)
Chris Currie Vs. Jon Christink (205)

J.C. Cousin Vs. Jeff Evely (180)

Brad Duguay Vs. Todd Wood (150)
