MIXED MARTIAL ARTS FIGHT WFC IV: CAGE WARS

MOVES TO FAIRGROUNDS’ EXPO HALL

Tampa, Florida (June 28) — Tampa-based World Fighting Championships moves its fourth MMA fight to the Florida State Fairgrounds to accommodate the growing fan base. Expected to be one of the largest MMA fights of the Southeast, WFC IV: Cage Wars will be held on July 13, 2007 at the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall.

The first of 11 bouts begins at 8 p.m. Tampa Tony provides live musical entertainment starting at 5 p.m.

Ticket costs are $60 for VIP seating, $25 for advance purchase general admission tickets and $30 at the door. Parking fees are $5 for cars and $10 for RVs and buses. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, or call 813-287-8844 or 727-898-2100. Major sponsors include EQ energy drink, Justlookitup.com and Toyota Tundra Southeast.

The previous fights were held in a boxing ring but all 10 bouts of this major mixed martial arts event will take place inside a 24-foot by 24-foot cage surrounded by a platform, providing additional excitement as well as safety for the fighters and nearby audience. Well-known MMA fighters scheduled to appear include Tampa’s Chris Baten, David Vieira (St.Pete), Brandon Cooley and Joe “Bamboo” Wissmann.

“With the great support from our fans and fighters, our organization is busting at the seams. We will continue to expand our reputation of safe and exciting fighting events and will continue delivering action-packed fight cards and fan entertainment every time,” said WFC President and CEO Tom Crowther.
Mixed martial arts fighting includes elements of boxing, judo, jiu-jitsu, karate, kickboxing, muy thai, tae kwon do and wrestling. To focus more on the sport and competition, WFC has implemented its own rules of conduct to foster safety of the athletes and has banned certain dangerous moves such as elbow strikes to an opponent’s head.

World Fighting Championships (WFC), founded in Tampa in September, 2006, is a Tampa-based company promoting mixed martial arts competitions. For more information contact 813-293-3334 or visit the website at www.mmawfc.com
