RFC “Night of Champions” At The Sun Dome

Saturday night, November 4 marks a new era in Tampa Bay sports as Real Fighting Championships (RFC) holds it “Night Of Champions” at the Sun Dome.

This event features one of the most competitive Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight cards in Florida history with 2 title fights.

Chris Mickle (25-7) from Des Moines, IA vs. Edson Berto (9-3-1) out of Winter Haven, FL will be fighting for a Lightweight Title while Mike Van Meer (23-14) from Des Moines, IA will challenge former Pride fighter and local legend, Carl Greco-Ognibene (4-2) from Tampa. They will be fighting for the Middleweight Title.

Another RFC first – a women's bout – will see Liz Posener of Vancouver, BC, a blackbelt who just fought on Canada's biggest MMA show taking on Kim Predmore from Columbus, OH.

Many of the RFC's most popular fighters from their previous 6 sell-out events at the A La Carte Pavilion will also be on hand including Allen “Monster Lobster” Berube, Light Heavyweight and crowd favorite, Chris Baten who, with a victory will earn a spot on the RFC February card with the winner going for the title in June. Ralph Garcia owner of World Class Martial Arts making his debut against And Chris Holder of Clearwater will face Chris Manuel from American Top Team in Ft. Lauderdale. It will be one exciting match after another.

Fourteen bouts in all are scheduled.

RFC is one of the premier MMA Promoters in the country. Owner Jason Freyre, says they have already contracted the Sun Dome for fights in 2007 and plan to bring the finest fighters in the world to do battle in Tampa, which is rapidly gaining quite a reputation for big time fights.

One of the main reasons for the success of the RFC has been the superb caliber of the contests, due to the uncanny ability of Matchmaker, Joe Valdez, to analyze the strengths of each fighter and put together evenly matched and exciting contests. These close fights never fail to have the crowds standing on their feet for most of the night. And Joe says he is just getting started. Look for International fighters in many disciplines, from all over the globe, to make their way to future RFC lineups.

MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world, with a recent UFC airing of the Tito Ortiz vs Ken Shamrock bout on Spike TV in the M18-34 demo outperformed everything on television that night, including broadcast and cable.

Another Florida first is the videotaping of the RFC events. A recent agreement between the RFC, Vision Quest Ventures, FightZone Media and Sun Sports will result in the broadcasting of all RFC events throughout the state starting on December 2 at 10 pm. Repeats will occur at various times each month.

Scheduled broadcast commentators are Jay Adams, Owner of Vision Quest Ventures and the voice of the WEF, CFC, IFC and RFC along with UFC legend, Stephen Bonnar.

All RFC Broadcasts will be Presented by FightZone Media, the nation's newest Fight Publication/Web Site and Video Fight Producer based in the Tampa Bay area.

Doors open at 6:30 with fights starting at 7:30. The Sun Dome is located at 4202 East Fowler Ave Tampa, FL
