(San Diego, California, June 21, 2010) — Powerhouse World Promotions brings the Gladiators of Mixed Martial Arts for the World to see on August 14, 2010 event “War On The Mainland” from the Bren Events Center in Irvine, California .

On one Magical Night of Fighting in a 4,500 seat state of the art events center, fistic, kicking, takedown and submission prowess will rule the night as fighters from around the world come together to rule supreme as Powerhouse World Champions in the Mixed Martial Arts style of fighting.

Headlined by former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia (26-6-, 17kos, 3 submissions) who is coming off an impressive win over 5-time World's Strongest Man Champion, Mariusz “Dominator” Pudzianowski. The 305 pound 6-8 Sylvia stopped Pudzianowski with submission punches at the 1:43 mark of the second round. Sylvia who first won the UFC Heavyweight Championship when he knocked out Ricco Rodriguez lost his UFC title when he broke his arm and despite wanting to continue and denying his arm was broken, the fight was stopped and Frank Mir became the new Champion. Sylvia who's arm was broken that night, would later win back the UFC Heavyweight Championship when he knocked out Andrei Arlovski in one round.

Paul Buentello (27-12-, 17 kos, 9 submissions) a veteran of some classic UFC wars as well as Strikeforce battles sported an unbeaten 2-0 record in the recent Affliction fight series. A contender for the UFC Heavyweight Championship, the 6-3-250 pound Buentello lost to Andrei Arlovski by knockout with :15 seconds left in the fight. Buentello lost the Strikeforce Championship when he got a knee to the body and lost by submission to Allstair Overeem. Fresh off a unanimous decision win over Bryan Humes on May 22nd of this year, Buentello now comes looking for a much anticipated and long awaited fight with Tim Sylvia. Tim Sylvia vs Paul Buentello is the main event of The War On The Mainland.
