Sanchez: Cuts Bring Out A Sense Of Urgency In Me

Diego Sanchez looked worse for wear following his close split decision win over Martin Kampmann last week at UFC on Versus 3 and talked about why despite looking like he may have lost he was able to sway the judges in his favor:

“I wasn't really thinking about whether I was winning or losing. I just knew that going into the second and third rounds that they were mine. When you get injured, as a fighter — you get cut — you know that the fight could be stopped. So when I get cut it brings something out of me like a sense of urgency, a sense to fight harder. And that's what happened in the fight: I got cut and was like 'alright, well shit, I better leave it all out there.' I just felt like he couldn't hurt me with his punches. I felt like he wasn't going to daze me — I didn't get dazed at all in the whole fight. I got cut, but I wasn't hurt. I had my legs the whole fight. My vision was fine.”
