Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis for vacant welterweight (170-pound) title
Round one: Finally, our main event of the evening for the first-ever Strikeforce welterweight title. Let's hope it doesn't go to the scorecards — Diaz likely will want to finish this early to avoid controversy. Mean staredown to start things off. Both come out aggressive, exchanging punches. It's a flurry. Now it finally slows down as Diaz presses Zaromskis up against the cage. hard to see who get the better/worse of the action. Diaz still works Zaromskis up against the cage with knees to the inside of the Lithuanian's thighs. Diaz finally gets it to the ground but Zaromskis is up just as fast. Daiz connects with a nice left and Zaromskis responds with a shot that puts Diaz down. He tries to finsih but Diaz covers up nicely. Back to their feet. Diaz still moving forward and eats a shot to the left ear. Now Zaromskis has him pressed up against the cage. Diaz with a shot to the body then a right hook. Then a left. He's mixing it up tremendously. Diaz blocks a high kick. Diaz lands a big bodyblow and works hom over up against the cage. Zaromskis is hurt. Diaz finishes him up with a big punch. Zaromskis falls to the floor and Diaz just gives him one for good measure before the referee stops the action. Great back-and-forth fight.
Final result: Nick Diaz defeats Marius Zaromskis via technical knockout (strikes) in round one to become the Strikeforce welterweight champion
